Seattle, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - Beast Mode needed a big push to score his first touchdown. The Seattle Seahawks needed a little extra to get past the winless Oakland Raiders in the rain. Marshawn Lynch scored two touchdowns in the first half, the first after his teammates shoved him into the end zone, and the Seahawks recovered an onside kick at the end of the game to hold off the Raiders for a 30-24 win on Sunday. Lynchs two scores and Bruce Irvins 35-yard touchdown on an interception return helped the Seahawks (5-3) build a 24-3 lead in the first half. Later, a couple of Steven Hauschka field goals in the fourth quarter gave them the cushion they needed after the Raiders (0-8) scored two touchdowns in the third, including one on a blocked punt. Derek Carrs second 1-yard touchdown pass to Mychal Rivera came with 1:52 left in the game but the Raiders couldnt recover an onside kick attempt even after it went through the hands of Seattle tight end Cooper Helfet. We played so well in the first half, said Seahawks coach Pete Carroll. Then we ran into some problems, a bunch of three-and-outs, we had a punt blocked -- some things that are uncharacteristic of what we normally do. ... So to get the win and keep moving forward, Im feeling really good about how hard we played. We accomplished something really good today. Lynch had 21 carries and five catches for 143 combined yards for the Seahawks, who played at CenturyLink Field for the first time since a 30-23 loss to Dallas on Oct. 12. They havent dropped back-to-back games at home in more than two years. The Raiders have lost 14 in a row going into next Sundays game against Peyton Manning and AFC West-leading Denver. Carr passed for 194 yards and threw two interceptions that led to 10 Seattle points in the first half. Russell Wilson passed for 179 yards and rushed for another 31 for Seattle, which stayed within two games of NFC West-leading Arizona. The Raiders got a boost four plays into the second half when Denico Autry squeezed through the line at the Seattle 37 to block Jon Ryans punt and Brice Butler fell on the ball in the end zone, trimming Seattles lead to 24-10. Later, the Raiders took a chance on fourth down at the 1-yard line and Carr rolled right to find Rivera, who leapt to make the catch in the back of the end zone despite tight coverage by Richard Sherman. But Lynchs 39-yard catch-and-run led to Steven Hauschkas 30-yard field goal on the second play of the fourth quarter and Hauschkas third field goal of the game -- from 40 yards -- pushed Seattles lead to 30-17 with 9:19 to play. Carrs pass to Rivera in the left side of the end zone gave the Raiders a shot, but Jermaine Kearse recovered the onside kick attempt after Helfet dropped it. We came here to win a football game. We didnt come here to come close, said Raiders interim coach Tony Sparano. The bottom line is, if you turn the ball over three times in the first half and youre playing catch-up against a good team like this on the road in their environment, it makes it really hard to (win). Earlier, after Sebastian Janikowski kicked a 48-yard field goal on the games first drive, Lynch gave Seattle the lead on a 3-yard run at the other end that was more a team effort than usual. Lynch was initially stopped by safety Charles Woodson and linebacker Sio Moore just past the line of scrimmage, but he kept moving his legs, even as tackle Pat Sims had a hold of his right foot. Several Seattle linemen and wide receiver Ricardo Lockette helped push Lynch into the end zone in a pile. Irvin tipped a pass to himself and beat Carr to the end zone for his 35-yard interception return, which gave Seattle a 14-3 lead on the final play of the first quarter. It was the first of three straight turnovers forced by the Seahawks. Offensively we know we can play better. I know I can play better, said Wilson. The defense played spectacularly today. They made a lot of plays. Offensively we just have to click better. Sherman intercepted Carr near the right sideline to set up Hauschkas 34-yard field goal and Hauschka recovered a fumble on the ensuing kickoff after Kearse stripped T.J. Carrie. That led to a 46-yard miss by Hauschka. Lynch had a much easier 5-yard touchdown run with 54 seconds left in the first half, bursting through a big hole to give Seattle a 24-3 lead, which stood at the break after Janikowski pulled a 51-yard field goal try wide right. Game Notes Seattle hasnt lost consecutive games at home since falling to Atlanta and Cincinnati on Oct. 2 and 30, 2011 ... Oaklands last win came at Houston on Nov. 17 last year. It was the latest sign of that the Royals intend to compete for the AL Central this season. The Royals introduced their new second baseman Tuesday, one day after announcing they had agreed to a $30.25 million, four-year contract that includes a club option for 2018. "I really got to see this team up close and I was very impressed by what they did last year," Infante said, "and I think theyre close to taking the next step." Infante will make $5 million next season, $7.5 million in 2015, $7.75 million in 2016 and $8 million in 2017. His option is $10 million with a $2 million buyout, and if Infante wins Silver Slugger or is picked for the All-Star game, his salary increases by $250,000 for each remaining season. Infante, who turns 32 next week, fills perhaps the most glaring hole that remained in the Royals lineup. Kansas City used six different options at second base last season, and none did enough to make the club feel comfortable about them in what could be a pivotal season for the franchise. The Royals are coming off an 86-76 season, their best record since 1989, and were in contention until the final week. But with star pitcher James Shields entering the final year of his contract, the window to break through to the playoffs for the first time since 1985 may be closing soon. Thats why the Royals have been aggressive this off-season. Theyve already sign left-hander Jason Vargas to a $32 million, four-year deal to make up for the likely loss of right-hander Ervin Santana in free agency, and traded reliever Will Smith to the Milwaukee Brewers for outfielder Norichika Aoki. Royals general manager Dayton Moore said following the season that three most pressing needs were to add a starting pitcher, upgrade in the outfield and solidify the second base position. Infante appears to be the final major item on the off-season shopping list. "We like our club going forward," Moore said Tuesday. "Weve made a lot of improvements, but we fully expect and understand that were going to have to massage our roster and keep makiing adjustments throughout the year, and hopefully stay injury free.dddddddddddd" Infante has had some injury troubles in the past, including an ankle injury that he picked up during a collision at second base that limited him to 118 games last season. But he still hit .318 with 10 homers and 51 RBIs, far better production than Kansas City got from its second basemen. Emilio Bonifacio, Jamey Carroll, Chris Getz, Johnny Giavotella, Elliot Johnson and Miguel Tejada combined to hit just .243 with four home runs last season. Moore said earlier this off-season that he expected payroll to be about the same as it was in 2013, which ended at $86,614,795. But the signing of Infante combined with expected raises for arbitration-eligible players means the payroll for next season will shoot past $90 million, a franchise record. Thats led to speculation that the Royals may have to trim salary, and rumours that designated hitter Billy Butler -- who is owed $8.5 million next season with a club option for 2015 -- may become available for a trade. Moore said such rumours amounted to "hot stove rhetoric." "Its no different than you hear other players throughout the league that potentially are going to be moved," Moore said. "Billys a terrific hitter, and hes going to hit. Thats what Billy does." As for the payroll, Moore said that "were not under any directive to cut," and that team owner David Glass has been supportive and flexible when it comes to signing players such as Infante. "We all understand this makes really good sense, this type of deal," Moore said, "and putting Omar on this team, Mr. Glass has always been supportive." Infante also received interest from the New York Yankees, who are searching for a replacement for Robinson Cano. But they were lukewarm about going beyond three years, allowing Kansas City to seal the deal by offering a fourth year to a player who will be 35 by the end of the contract. "We think he can play," Moore said. "The players that play in the middle of the diamond for a long time, they all have some commonalities. Theyre very smart, theyre hard workers, good teammates, they know how to play, and thats why those guys have long careers."
